Doggy Tricks

Intense—-1) extreme in a way that can be felt. 2) involvng great effort or activity.

Well, that word intense defines our life right now.  Bill and I have good news.  We accepted a bid on our home and signed a contract.  Hopefully, all will go well and we will hand over the keys of our loving home to this wonderful young couple and their two eager kiddos.

In the meantime we are adding things to our home in Navasota.  Had an electrician out on Saturday to add extra outlets to the front and back porches.  We also added flood lights to the property.  It is really coming along and with any luck we will be in by the holidays.  It wil be exciting to start a new Holiday tradition in Navasota.  We did give many decorations to Good Will, where I hope others enjoy them as well.  Moving is a good way to clean house and there are only a few things that my parents passed on to me that I would like to pass on to the kids one day.  Some of the old sentimental stuff had to go.  Only because it was falling apart. And as much as I hated and even cried, when packing them up and throwing them away, it was time to go to “treasured items heaven”.

We have been so disappointed in the Houston Texans this year.  After several losses it takes all you have to get ready to go to the games.  With our continued losing streak the only thing that gets us to the stadium is our wonderful friends that we meet there and party with.  The stadium was practically empty after the third quarter.  It was really humiliating.  one guy in the Director’s Club where we are got arrested for throwing a beer bottle in frustration.

Bill and starr have succeeded in pulling off the most “3 Stooges” caper I have witnessed in quite a while.  Bill let Starr out the back porch in Navasota.  He failed to look at the side gates to notice that they were both open.  Starr, of course is under the impression that she can go whereevr she wants unless there is a fence or gate to stop her.  You know, baricades for her safety.  Bill is the human adult here, I think.  Dogs don’t get lost. So after she’s been out for a while he is calling her back in.  Now remember, when he calls …it’s loud because he can’t hear how loud he is talking.  The weather satelite in space is woundering who the hell Starr is.  Bill can’t find her.  He’s paniced thinking she has escaped out in the woods.  Now, I’m in the house where I can see out all the windows and know where everyone and everything is at all times.  Not to mention the security cameras show it all.  So for a good ten minutes I watch Starr and Bill circle the house looking for one another.  Starr is saying I’m right here and Bill is screaming his head off.  So Starr walks to the front door and I give her a treat.  A few minutes later a disgusted Bill walks in the back door and sees Starr.  He preceeds to give me the third degree like it’s my fault… while I am dying laughing.  Watching them go in circles was very amusing, not to mention I spared them a YouTube showing.

It flies at a sneaky speed.  It’s almost invisible until it strikes.  And for me and million of others the stakes are high.  It’s mosquitoes!  one small bite and I welt up, itch for days, and look like I have some dread disease.  I look like one big red dot.  And they love me.  So I am walking to my Jeep and minding my own business.  I saw it coming.  Proboscis like a needle, flying googles worn by Amelia Earhart, the Red Baron’s scarf, and combat boots on all feet.  Blood donor in sight.  I could just hear it thinking…what’s for dinner today?  Type A, B, O, positive or negitive?  Well, I guess tohight , it’s O+!  People stare at you.  What happened?  Poison Ivy?  No, a f_ _ _ ing mosquito.  Thank goodness we screened the porch in at Navasota.  I can watch them punch their faces in when they hit the screen.  Much to my delight.

So, staying busy and counting down to our move.  Please spread the word that I am not e-mailing blog notices until I can get my Word Press fixed so that your e-mail does not go out to all when I send it.  I will remind everyone on Facebook and this website.  Still waiting to see final copy of the new book…then off to the printers.

Have a blessed week.

Peace and Quiet…and Bill

I’m waiting to see how much crap we can actually cram into a 10×10 storage shed.  And I can’t wait to unpack it to see what all the boys have decided to throw in there that shouldn’t be there in the first place.  I mean, I can’t supervise 24/7.  Although, I need to.  Casey built the shed on the property in Navasota and it was meant for Christmas decorations and other holiday stuff.  I caught a glimpse of a few things that are unidentifiable.  And was told “mom, don’t worry about it”.  As the three of them take off in a different direction.   I’m sure that will be a whole blog segment in itself.

The country used to be nice and peaceful.  At least that’s what the wildlife are now thinking.  Bill has moved in and refuses to where his hearing aids.  So that means he talks about three octaves louder than normal.  A hawk soaring at 400 ft. can hear him.  Poor Starr thinks she is being yelled at and Bill is actually just calling her inside.  The TV set blasts through the piney woods as deer and wild hogs run for fear the apocalypse is upon them.  A woodpecker made a visit to the screen porch and looked at me like.. is this new wood free for the pecking?  Two huge blue jays were at the feeder and were daring a squirrel to invade their newly found dinner station.  That is until Bill and Dusty came out with the chain saw, axe, titanium clippers, and of course, have that “no idea what the hell they are doing” look.  Then all the critters elevate to higher perches in the tall pines and oaks.  But in spite of my motley crew the creatures of the wilderness seem to tolerate us and our human ways.  I think they are all pitching in to buy Bill a new hearing device for Christmas.

We have had so many lookers for the house and now have been told that we are going to get two bids thrown our way.  So we are deeply relieved that we no longer have to travel so much each week.  A young couple with two young kids looked at the house and the little girl ran to her mother and told her that the rock was talking.  She was referring to the outdoor speakers at the end of the pool.  I got a big kick out of that.  So we will see what comes up this week.  Thanks to all who helped get the word out about our home.  We had hoped and prayed that someone would buy it that would love it as much as us.  I feel confident we are on the right track.

Should not be long that the new book goes to the printers.  Keep an eye open for the release of “They’re Pistols and They’re Loaded”.  This book as well as “Ride,Baby,Ride” will benefit ovarian cancer research.  Blessings to all.

By the way, is it just me, or am I the only one that when you get old…your knees get FAT!!!!

Life is Great and Laugh at Stupidity

Have to begin with the update on the blood work and the exam.  CA125 was a 4.3.  That is awesome.  Last time it was a 4.6.  After a detailed probe by Dr. Bevers, I am also happy to say that he found nothing.  So I am good to go for another 3 months.  Of course, it will hit around the holidays so I’ll be a complete wreck at Christmas.  So…thank you so much to all of my prayer warriors for the powerful prayers that were sent.  God bless you all.

Bill and I are still showing the house.  Many lookers and several “come-backers”.  We lowered the price a little bit but since we did so well on the horse field sale we are not concerned.  The trips to Navasota are always fun.  We try to go several times a week.  Dusty has moved up there with his dogs until we sell here.  But, of course, gas is killing us.  Still have to build a horse barn but we are taking it a little at a time.  I guess the one good thing about a move is finally getting rid of all the crap one does not need and don’t know why you bought it in the first place.

I would like to thank the continious support from our neighbors who look after things for us when we have to vacate quickly in order to show the house.  Bernie and Ernie inform us when the realtor leaves so we can return and Marvin and Sandi take us in for mini sessions while we wait for lookers to leave.  It gets pretty tiresome just driving around for an hour or two at a time.  A special takes to the family for helping out with the dogs.  Jennifer, I’m sure you love having Starr’s nose prints and slobber all over your car!  Dusty, for the last minute calls we make to you to evacuate quickly.  And, Casey for gardening duty.  Linda and David, we miss our lunches and dinners with y’all.  Right about the time we set something up there has been a call to show.   It has been hard on us …I guess it’s the age, to juggle everything at one time.  The cancer, the house selling, the house buying, the port cleanings, the paperwork, the disagreements on certain decisions, and so on, really takes it to the limit sometimes.  So thank you to all for your patience and kindness.  My mom used to say, real friends don’t cause extra stress.  Karma will take care of losers.  She was so right.

Bill and Starr have learned the routine pretty well.  They stay out of my way.  When I’m on a mission…I’M ON A MISSION!  Lani calls every day to see if I have disposed of either Bill or Dusty yet.  One day, I had them on a written orders routine.  And I might add, written in order that they were to be done.  The next thing I know they are discussing how they can complete several at one time to make the list go away faster.  Wrong….I just started adding to it.  Poor Dusty winds up doing the physical labor and Bill drinks a beer and supervises.  Casey had the bushes duty.  He used his head.  He tied the bushes to his truck and pulled them out rather than using the shovel.  I was impressed.  The last I saw they were chasing hornets.  Or should I say the hornets were chasing them.

Will update when I get a few minutes to sit.  Many funny things have occured and I think you will enjoy the stories.  So, take care till next time and again thanks for the prayers.  They work.

Husband for Sale!

There is no end to the things that Bill gets into, does, ruins, etc.  He has finally hit the all time clencher.  As most of you know we are selling our home in Fulshear.  We have to be ready to show it with short notice.  On Monday, we get a call early afternoon to show the house at 5:30.  Daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandson Braden were here visiting.  We were doing last minute counter wipes when all of a sudden from the kitchen comes the strongest smell of gasoline.  Jennifer and I ran to the kitchen and there, with no surprise, was Bill.  Standing over the sink with an empty Gatorade bottle.  He thought he was pouring the yardmens Gatorade out when actually it was the container they keep their gas in for the weedeater and blower.  I almost had a heart attack.  It took everything and everyone to hold me back.  How in the world were we going to get the smell out by 5:30?  Scared to lite candles at first, Jennifer tried baking soda, vinegar, limes, Mr. Clean with Gain and anything else we could get our hands on eliminate the odor.  In the meantime, Bill hurries outside before I start throwing more than just words at him.  Needless to say he has not heard the end of it.  Is it just me…or…. would anyone pour out old Gatorade in the sink?  Wouldn’t you pour it in the grass?  Especially when you don’t know what’s been around it.

Neighbors Sandi and Marvin killed a 28″ long coral snake on Saturday.  They sent a photo..unbelievable!  I really believe it’s the one I saw last year about this time when I was leaving Magoo’s house.  It was the longest coral snake I had ever seen and it disappeared into the rubber tree by the patio while I was hunting down a weapon to decapitate it with.  All I saw was about 8″ of the tail section as it vanished.  But Sandi was the hero and chopped off it’s head.  Marvin was sleeping.  Why is it that men are never where you need them?  And when you don’t need them, which is most of the time, you are tripping over them.

Bill and I had a wonderful time at the beautiful home of Gerald and Antia Smith last week at a Big Brother Big Sister get-together.  A small band, hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and friendship, all for a great cause.  Thank you to all the supporters who came.  My dad is certainly looking down with a big smile at the amazing program he founded 62 years ago.  The Big Black Tie Ball is this weekend.  Donations are always welcomed to help the kids who struggle with one parent.  Go BBBS!!!!

MRI was clear and breast exam turned up nothing.  So all clear on the ta-ta’s.  Next week is my 3 month check with the “Bev”.  Pelvic exam and blood work.  I’ll have to think of something to embarass Dr. Bevers.  It doesn’t take much.  He gets red so easy.  Please keep the prayers coming.  I always get a little nervous right before the blood work.

Hope everyone has a blessed week.  They’re Pistols and They’re Loaded!  is almost finished.  Book designer Shiloh, is putting finishing touches on it.  Then off to print.

Life’s Little Annoyances

They insist on bugging me.  They know I totally dispise them.  They know I’d rather have a hairy spider drop in front of me from the unknown, on it’s silk thread, in front of my face.  They know that it creeps me out just to think about them.  So, why do snakes continue to put themselves in my path?  This time I’m walking up the sidewalk to Dusty’s house.  It wasn’t very long, I’d say about 8 inches.  But it was fat.  Short and fat and disgusting!  Have no idea what type it was but as the queen says in “Alice In Wonderland”….off with it’s head.  Little guy is even shorter now.

Supervising seems to be a skill that most women take to early in life.  It mostly comes natural.  And, apparently we are damn good at it.  I believe men call it nagging.  But it gets things accomplished without too much bloodshed.  I go off happy and Bill and Dusty go off mumbling to themselves.  But we are making progress with the move.  Casey finished a storage shed for us on the Navasota property.  It is even equipped with lights and security camera.  One could thing about having a son who is an electrician and a carpenter.  So no excuses for Bill to go out to the shed to retrieve something for me and say it was too dark and he couldn’t find it.  Casey is also putting 2 huge fans on the screened porch.  I figure…if I design it as comfy as possible, when Bill and Dusty get on my nerves, they can head out to the “man cave porch”.   They can shoot guns off the sides.  They can watch football.  They have a fridge for their adult beverages, no bugs and fans blowing.  Torture…is it not?  I just thought I had lost my mind.  Bill and Dusty stole it!

I have a request on behalf of a friend.  There is a young lady fighting for her life in Austin, Tx.  She has stage 3c ovarian cancer.  Just like me.  She has battled it for a few years.  Just like me.  Now she is down to her last hope.  All the chemo and drugs that helped before are not working this time around.  There is a drug available called PARP inhibitor BMN 673 made by the company BioMarin.  But it is not FDA approved at this time.  BioMarin says it considers desperate cases but has not acted on this one.  However, there is a petition that can be signed in her behalf.  Please write to Change Org. at 216 W. 104th St. #130, NYC, NY 10025.  Please help get this young lady another chance.

Getting ready for boob MRI on Wednesday.  I just love waking up to a IV full of nuke crap and lying face down with hooters hanging in a box.  So lady-like.  So praying for negative results with the ta-ta’s.  Lani is doing fine.  I appreciate everyone asking.  But we are both homesick for each other.  Hardly ever a day goes by that we do not have the phone tied up for an hour.  Sometimes several times a day.  Going on half a year now.  Hate to think of it in those terms but 6 months is an eternity.  She loves her job and hopes to get back here to visit soon.

Have a blessed week my friends.  Hugs to you all.

Bee-tles

Life is good.  I get to sit around and watch Bill and Dusty knock themselves out trying to kill carpenter bees in our oak tree.  Or we thought carpenter bees.  The two of them are lucky I didn’t film them for You-Tube.  Bill had the water hose and Dusty had a can of wasp spray in each hand.  As they started their strategy I was sitting on the back porch…when they ended their attempt I was in the pool..underwater getting away from the swarm that preceded to attack.  All I needed was sunscreen and a snorkel.  Not satisfied that they were bees..I did some investigating of my own.  I creeped up on the tree…in camouflage….incognito…wine in one hand and pool net in the other.  There is no way they are going to see me coming. Right?  So, they start buzzing around.  Dive bomboing.  One swoop of my mighty pool net and I have my POW.  I bring him in the house.  Put him in a baggy and get on line to see what I have captured.  It is a Green June Beetle.  Have no clue why they are here or what damage they do.  I called our pest guy and described the little prisoner.  We will see what the outcome is today when he sees them.

Between feeling like a pachyderm, trying to sell this house, and driving to Navasota to get that house ready….we need to own a gas company.  I still do my speeches and finally finished the second book.  The book is at the book designer’s and the only thing we are waiting on is the finished product to send to the printers.  I still get my port cleaned each month and I have a Dr. Bevers appointment this month for bloodwork and physical.  Always a nervous time.  I have my breast MRI next week at MD Anderson to check on the ta-ta’s and breast specialist appointment the day after to go over the results.  And you know how much I enjoy those breast MRI’s.

Had family over on Sunday.  Got to visit with everyone.  Grandson and Bill went out to do their man thing at the pit.  Shooting the 22 rifle at the target at the bottom of the pit is always a hit with the gang.  It’s fun here but really fun on 7 1/2 arces in Navasota.  There is a huge pond on the back part of the property that you can sit on the back porch and shoot into.  I like sitting shooting and drinking my wine all at one time.  There was a 8 point buck in the front by the fence between our property and the neighbors 15 acres, the turkeys are still roaming, and other wildlife are abundant.  It is so much fun and beautiful.

Football season is here and I am so excited.  Texans home games start September 15Th.  We renewed our season tickets and looking forward to seeing all our Director’s Club friends for a Super Bowl bound season!  We saw a few at the pre-season games and look forward each year for our football comradery.  I get a little carried away with the Texan jerseys, caps, stickers, and Jeep excessories but what the hell …keeps this old woman busy.

I want to thank Chuck Guillot, carpenter extordinaire, for the beautiful job he did in Navasota on screening in the porch and making a ramp for us.  If anyone needs a talented Cajun dude to do any type of wood work, get with me and I’ll give you his number.  The furniture he makes is unbelievable.  I also want to thank my son Casey who is in Navasota as I write, to help with all the added electric work we needed and to build us an extra storage shed.

So glad to be getting back to writing.  Had to take a few weeks off to show the house and get other things taken care of.  Keep great bloodwork results in your prayers.  Love to you all.  Have a safe week.

Mystery Critter

It has been an interesting two weeks to say the least.  There has been two open houses for the Fulshear Property, meetings with various companies to take care of the Navasota Property, maids in and out (which not complaining they make my life much easier) , pest control treatments at both houses, traveling back and forth to the storage units, cleaning out closets and of course transporting dogs at the last minute.  Life just got complicated for two old farts.  The last open house brought many lookers and we have another showing today at 3 PM.  Hopefully it is someone that stopped by yesterday and is taking a second look.  The Navasota Property is so much fun.  Quiet, except for a gun shot every now and then, which only adds character to the place.  We do have a mystery on our hands.  The hole that we found dug by some critter right under the bedroom has returned.  Dusty and I filled the hole in, per instructions from Brian, our Navasota pest dude.  Only for it to be dug out neat and clean two days later.  It went from being a skunk to a armadillo…now not sure.  We had ruled out opossum and raccoon only because they are more climbers than diggers.  I am ready to go to Academy and purchase an outdoor day/night camera and do a little investigating of my own.  I haven’t felt this much like Sherlock Holmes since my chemo days sent me hunting outside with my BB gun to ward off the cats from the birds nest at 3AM…NAKED!   Ahh…such wonderful memories.  The wonderful feel of chemo fog.  UGH!  Lani added her two cents and said that if we had showed up in church after the skunk encounter, our new friend and New Hope’s Church pastor, Dr. Max Brand, would have had pew-ee’s in the pews.   Hopefully it’s not a l’il stinker and it’s a harmless dillo.

I really miss Lani and my mother.  Times like these call for a girls conference.  As I have stated…the men are driving me bonkers!  Bill has gone from just turning the TV up loud to putting the phone on speaker when he answers it.  Then he says you talk to them I can’t understand what they are saying.  A deaf man in the next county could have heard what they are saying.  I had the new phone company in Navasota call me this morning confirming all that we had signed up for. The phone, internet, and Directv are all together.  They wanted to make sure because some of the options that Bill had picked were a little strange.  OK…I’ll bite, what exactly did he sign up for?  I almost grabbed the wine bottle at 10 AM.  Let’s put it this way…we don’t need porn channels on Directv among other things.  I cut the bill in half.  When confronted…he blamed it on his hearing…NICE TRY!  I think he and Dusty had been hitting the Crown when they made the call.  Both of them looking so innocent with that sh_t eating grin.

The Hurles house is so ready for football to start.  Our Texan season tickets arrived a couple weeks ago and now we are getting up dates on training camp activites and get togethers.  “Are you ready for some football” is in the air.  It seems to be the buzz on Facebook too.  Both College and Pro.  Anyway Bill and I are ready for some great parties.  I sure hope cooler weather comes along with it.  My poor Mockingbird family sit on the front porch with their beaks wide open.  Had to find a water bowl for them.  I”ll have to put a Texan sticker on it so they get ready for the pigskin season too.

“They’re Pistols and They’re Loaded” has now gone to my book designer, Shiloh.  Tyler, my editor is finished and I am waiting on the cartoonist to finish.  I am sending Shiloh photos to place in the book.  So we should be getting the finished product soon.  I have a speaking engagement on Aug. 14TH for a women’s business network so I will have a copy of the new cover to show them.  Video dude Mike from “Zoom” will be there to show the Ride,Baby Ride! video that is on You-Tube to the group.  Will be a fun time.   First engagement since my foot surgery so I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

Hope everyone has a great week.  Pray for no skunk and nice smelling air.

Call of the Wild

Well, we did it.  We closed on the Navasota Property.  It’s been trying to say the least …but all done now.  Special thanks to Dr. Max Brand who helped in so many ways with all our property needs.  Bill, of course, did not have his hearing aids in at closing so you can visualize the proceedings.  I mean really, even Vincent van Gogh could have heard half the conversation!  Just as we closed on Navasota, we opened up our home to an open house in  Fulshear.  It was a big success according to the realtor that showed it.  Had about seven groups come in during the three hour showing.  Waiting to hear about the feedback.  Thank you to all that got the word out for us.  And of course to the ones that came and brought someone.

In the meantime, I am refereeing two men that are acting like school boys.  Dusty and Bill.  Bill is ranting and raving about this and that, Dusty is back in the dating circuit so as we are trying to keep the house “ready for show”, Dusty is shuffling between caring for his dogs, trying to move his stuff to the new property and driving Bill nuts with young ladies comings and goings.  So finally came to a head on Sunday morning.  I told Bill he was in “time-out” for the day and for Dusty to shut up and get in his truck and follow me to Navasota.  Dusty helped me unload a bunch of totes and also bring some things back with us.  We walked the entire 7 1/2 acres and took notes on different things that needed to be done.  Dusty also changed all the door locks and brought some of his mechanics tools and stuff so that he could work on cars there if need be.  So spending the day with Dusty was very productive with no bickering amongst the “children”.  While there, we found a critter hole burrowed under the house.  The master bedroom to be exact…so I refuse to share my bedroom, either space over or under, with a raccoon or opossum family.  Also told it could be a fox.  Doesn’t matter…space is not for rent.  So calling critter control today.  The wild turkeys were having a field day in the trees.  There is nothing to describe their sounds.  Something else to look forward to.  Thanksgiving might come early!

Starr and I are completely surrounded by males.  With Lani gone my sanity is not far behind.  Starr tried to wake Bill up this morning at 5 AM to go outside.  Now she has her doggy door that she can go out anytime she wants but she likes the attention and to my great joy, she bugs Bill bright and early.  When after the third try she comes to my side of the bed, paws me, as if asking …”does he have his hearing aids in”?   About this time Dusty gets up to get ready for work and his two heathens, Chico and Rufus,  are outside telling the universe that they are up and at-em.  What is it with men and their territorial sounds.  OMG!

My prayer jar is happy today.  Brother-in-law Ray is home from the hospital.  He had surgery for pancreatic cancer and is now trying to get some weight back on.  So sending prayers Ray’s way for a speedy recovery.  Also, please continue to pray to St. Joseph for us to sell our home quickly.  Hey, the poor guy is upside down in the ground next to the For Sale sign.  He needs a breather.  We say our prayer every morning.  I guess he’s working on just the right person to buy it.

Have a great week my friends….stay safe.

Twilight Zone Revisited

If you grew up in my era then you will remember theTV show “The Twilight Zone” .  Rod Serling intorduces you into the weird happenings of one’s life when you enter the dimension called the Twilight Zone.  At 7:00 AM one morning last week.. .. Lani and I entered the Twilight Zone.  It started with our phone ringing one time.  Bill looked at caller ID and saw that it was Lani.  However, when calling Lani back to make sure all was OK, we discovered that she had been in her bathroom applying make-up and her phone was in her den on the coffee table…turned off.  No one else was at home.  I told her I thought she had accidently “butt called” me.  She even checked and we were not the last phone number she had dailed.  OK, now really getting strange.  Several other creepy things happened that day to both of us.  Front row parking places….like people pulling out right as you drive up.  Finding an object you had been looking for forever.  Found an old photo that I hadn’t seen in years.  Just as starters.  We were all waiting for which ever deceased relative was circling that day to give us a hint of you they were.  Then BINGO!  My mother is the spirit.  Her birthday is this week.  And that would be soooo her to connect Lani and me that day.  Her birthday is also the day we are scheduled to close on the Navasota property.  And to add to the matter….my crock-pot got a crack in the ceramic part of the pot.  So I got out one of the crock-pots that used to belong to my mom.  For those not up on the sequence of events…mom passed away in 1997.  Her crock-pot was probably purchased in 1980’s.  It’s an old Rival one.  So as I slow cooked a roast over night, I kept the fire extinguisher next to my bed.  So if the Rival decided to show it’s age, I was ready.  It was definitely mom!

Since we are going back in time, dabbling in the past sort of speak, does anyone remember the Parker Bros. ink pens.  I still have one and I’m forever going to “Office Depot” to get refil cartridges.  I remember that it was such a big deal to have a cool Parker’s Bros. pen.  Since my schooling was fifties and sixties, I remember when the ballpoints took over and then BIC.  Bill was telling me that he remembers having the ink pens with the ink well on your desk.  Where you dipped your pen.  I visualize the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the feather pens, quills, whatever.  Gee, Bill I’m glad I’m not as old as you.  Ink wells?  OMG!

My friend Pat sent me a cartoon titled “Auntie Acid”.  One of the toons said “the best part of the day is when you can take off your bra”.  How true this is.  If it wouldn’t be such a disaster not to wear one…I wouldn’t.   I love that time of day.  Of course, Bill thinks it’s an invitation.  I’m getting to the point where the bra doesn’t do much good anyway.  The boobs are hanging out of the bottom of the cup.  What happened to that day in sixth grade where I was the only girl that didn’t need one?  Now these “puppies” are having a hard time staying in my bathing suit.  The “big brown eyes” circumference is getting so big I could nurse Dumbo!

Had a wonderful lunch outing with my cancer prayer group on Friday.  We met at The Brookwood Community in Brookshire for an afternoon of great food and excellent company.  If you have never been to Brookwood please try to.  It is a residence for special needs adults.  They have a beautiful garden, church, living quarters, cafe and gift store.  I invited my daughter-in-law Jennifer to go with me and we did a little shopping after the lunch.  All sales help the community.  And thank you Krista for picking up the lunch tab.  You are a sweetheart.

I also have a “killer” recipe that D-I-L Jennifer gave me.  It’s for the crock-pot.  Chuck roast, 1 pack of italian salad dressing, 1 pack of ranch salad dressing, (remember salad dressing ,not dip mix) 1 pack of brown gravy mix and water.  Mix all three packages together with 2 cups of water.  Brown roast in skillet (optional) and put in crock-pot.  Cover with mixture.  Add water if it doesn’t cover the top of the roast.  Set on low for 8-10 hrs.  Melts in your mouth!

Have a great week my friends.  Stay safe and avoid any twilight zones of your own.  Although kinda fun trying to figure them out.  Hugs!
